Chelsea are holding talks to sign up one of the best players in world football

Chelsea’s mission to sign a world-class striker has seen them ask to be kept informed about Robert Lewandowski’s situation at Bayern Munich

The club are very much interested in signing Haaland, but Borussia Dortmund are playing hardball over a fee and it would take an offer of £175million to land the forward, and even then the German club are adamant he is not for sale

That has forced the board to return to the drawing board and they have now revived their interest in Bundesliga top scorer Lewandowski.

Lewandowski is one of Europe’s elite goalscorers and has unsurprisingly attracted interest from some of the continent’s biggest clubs over the past few seasons as he continues scoring goals for fun

The 33-year-old striker netted 41 league goals in the 2020/21 season for Bayern to break Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga record, which had stood for 49 years, but there has been alot of speculation regarding the players future

The former Dortmund striker is said to be keen to test himself in the Premier League and would relish a move to west London, while Bayern are described as ‘not unsympathetic’ to his desire for a new adventure.

Now the Daily Mail claim the club have held talks with Lewandowski’s agent regarding a move for the 32-year-old this summer.

Following the departure of Olivier Giroud and the rumoured exit of Tammy Abraham this summer, Tuchel is looking to add to his attacking options, with Lewandowski reportedly his priority to come in and lead the line alongside existing stars such as Mason Mount, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz

Lewandowski may be coming towards the back-end of his playing days, but he still a goal-scoring machine that will cost upwards of £80 million, so if we want to sign a striker that can bang in the goals for the next two years, Lewandowski is the man
