Unhappy Mats! Chelsea ‘have held talks’ to sign up Hummels this January

Chelsea have held talks with Mats Hummels’ agent over a potential deal for the Bayern Munich defender.

Maurizio Sarri has been eyeing up potential deals for Elsai Hysaj, Kalidou Koulibaly and Daniele Rugani over the months, but with Napoli and Juventus not keen to let players leave in January, getting deals done will be very difficult for the Italian.

However, we have been boosted in our chase for Hummels, with German publication BILD claiming the defender has become very unhappy at Bayern after falling down the pecking order and is looking to leave in January.

The report goes on to say the Germany international’s agent, Marc Kosicke, reportedly travelled to London and held talks with Chelsea and Tottenham over a possible deal in next months window.

However, Bayern are playing hard-ball and the German club’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists the centre-back is staying with them until the end of the season.

‘We had a conversation with Mats a few days ago and he will play for Bayern Munich in the second half of the season,’ he told Bild.

Could Chelsea convince Bayern to sell Hummels?

Having an unhappy player in the squad if not good for morale and if we offer Bayern the right amount of money, then the Germans will do business as they seen to have fallen out with the world cup winner.

Hummels is a world class player and next to the right partner at Stamford Bridge, could be a real asset for Sarri.
