Chelsea have showed an interest in signing Brentford star Ivan Toney

The club are doing ok so far this season and have been putting in some decent results – but they are clealy lacking a striker that has the ability to score goals on a weekly basis

That has led to all sorts of speculation about players that we could make for in the coming transfer window – and now it seems that Graham Potter is keen on Ivan Toney

Fichajes has reported that Potter’s side is the first club to show interest in the signature of Toney.

the report claims – Despite him missing out on the English squad’s flight to Qatar, Chelsea will have to fork out a good sum for Toney’s services.

Toney’s contract with the Bees expires in 2025 and could cost Chelsea 100m.

Amid all the speculation – Reporter Iomie Stanley has told Chelsea to sign the striker – he said: “Is there a better number nine at Chelsea? Is there a better number nine at Man United? Then let me ask you the question.

“If you were Chelsea and you can go and write a cheque for £100million and buy a player from Holland or a player from France and Italy and give them a year-and-a-half to acclimatise, are you going to write a cheque and buy one of the top three number nines in the Premier League?

“The proof is in the pudding, he’s promoted to the Premier League with a team that’s not fancied to stay up, he’s one of the top three goalscorers.

‘And that is in a team that, again, is not a favourite to be top-10, top-12 in the Premier League.”
