Chelsea have made a final bid to keep Andreas Christensen on their books, after it emerged that Barcelona are looking to wrap up a transfer deal for the defender.

Chelsea are in the media for all sorts of reasons over the past few days, but that has not stopped the speculation about the type of players that will be coming to the club in the summer transfer window, and leaving the club either on free deals or being sold as the club may look to revamp.

Christensen is yet to agree a new deal with us, despite holding talks with the club for months and the defender admits he’s in a ‘difficult situation’ at Stamford Bridge, as he does not get the game time that he has desired.

With the Danish defender running his contract down towards free agency, and with Barcelona among those said to be waiting in the wings, the Blues have upped their latest offer to the 25-year-old, and reports on 90min have claimed that the club have now made a contract offer to the defender.

Speaking about his contract situation last week, Christensen said: ‘Things can still be done. Being part of a winning team is all that I want to be as a football player. It’s hard because all the talks between the club and my guys, I try to keep it away because I want to focus and it’s not changed for me.

‘I go on the pitch every day not really thinking about it. I leave that to the club and my guys, and I can focus on playing football.

‘I just focus on winning, really. It’s a difficult situation.’

Christensen is a very gifted defender that could become a top-class one, so the news that he is all set to depart the club at the end of the season will come as a massive blow to the squad, but he can be replaced guys
