Chelsea looking to wrap up big-time signing as Dortmund release official Haaland statement

Borussia Dortmund have moved to dampen Chelsea’s interest Erling Haaland by urging the striker to stay at the club and develop his game.

Haaland is regarded as one of the very best young strikers in world football right now and since his move to Borussia Dortmund last season, he has netted an impressive 33 goals in just 33 games for the Bundesliga side.

We have been linked with a possible move to try and secure a transfer deal for a player that would demand a dee of around £100 million.

But With the January transfer window now open, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has moved to quell any interest in his star striker by drawing a comparison to Robert Lewandowski.

“I don’t think that will happen,” Watzke told Kicker when asked about the possibility of Haaland leaving Dortmund in the summer.

“Erling and his advisor Mino Raiola know what they have in us. I can only advise him to do things like Robert Lewandowski.”

There will be a massive battle for the services of Haaland when he comes onto the market, but we would love to see him in the Premier League, he is the kind of player that would send a real statement for the club.

Dortmund may feel that they can keep hold of the powerhouse right now, but at the end of the season or in the next couple of windows, the right offer from the board may be able to get a transfer deal done.

And honestly, as we said, he would be a big statement signing from the club.
