President opens door for Chelsea to try and sign world class star
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that contract talks with Chelsea target Victor Osimhen are at a standstill.
The club have spent some crazy money over the last couple of transfer windows and brought players to the club that they hoped would get the side competing for the big titles.
They even have one of the best managers in the game and a man that has been tipped to be a real success at Stamford Bridge – but their start to the new season has brought up some worrying displays, and questioned the clubs transfer policy.
That has led to reports in the media that the board could try and make a move for Osimhen in the January window, a man that they wanted to sign in the summer window and a striker that is easily regarded as one of the best in the game.
He has been in contract talks with Napoli for quite some time now, but has been unable to agree a new contract as the Italians are playing hard-ball and do not want to offer him the kind of deal that he feels he fully deserves.
Now, De Laurentiis has suggested at a press conference that he could be end up being sold just like defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
He said at a press conference: “I have never not been calm when it comes to Osimhen, but it takes two to tango. I remain the same, if his mood has changed, then there’s not much I can do about that. If after a handshake things change, that is disappointing, we take it into account, but life goes on.
‘We have a good rapport with him, the contract runs to 2025, so there is time. Don’t forget I sold Koulibaly at the last minute.”
Look, if we manage to get a hold of Osimhen – he could be a real game-changing signing for the club that is for sure.
