Chelsea target David Alaba is no closer to agreeing a new contract with Bayern Munich,
It was no secret in the media over the transfer window that we were very interested in trying to sign Alaba in the transfer window after learning that he is having massive contract issues at the German giants.
However, despite all the rumours, despite all the speculation and despite all the news that we were closing in on a potential deal, Alaba did not leave Bayern as the Bundesliga Champions hoped that they could convince the left-back to sign a new contract at the club.
That meant that the club had to switch their attentions to Ben Chilwell, and decided to splash over £50 million on securing a deal for the Englishman, especially after became one of the best in the Premier League with Leicester City.
Now we have been linked once again with a move for Alaba in the January window, or at the end of the season, when the club would be able to sign the left-back for absolutely nothing, as his contract expires with Bayern.
Alaba has less than a year left on his contract in Bavaria and is free to negotiate pre-contract terms with other clubs from January, and according to Kicker, The 28-year-old has held three rounds of talks with Bayern bosses but a deal has yet to be struck for him to stay at the club.
Look, we have signed the impressive Chilwell and he will be a great signing for the club, but if he gets injured, Lampard has not immediate replacement that could help fill the void, and that is why he needs to sign Alaba.
