Chelsea academy midfielder Conor Gallagher has signed a new contract and joined Charlton Athletic on loan for the 2019/20 season.

Despite being part of the transfer ban this summer window, the transfer window has been quite a productive one for the Blues as a number of top players have signed deals and many of the talented youngsters have either left or got themselves a loan move away.

Frank Lampard has been able to keep a very close eye on all the talents that have been at the club this summer, and has made a lot of decisions about whom will be staying this coming season or heading out on loan, or leaving on a permanent basis.

And now we have announced that 19-year-old Galllagher has agreed to leave the club for the next 12 months to get some much needed game time, but only after agreeing a new contract to stay.

His new contract commits him to his boyhood club until at least 2022 and he will now link up with Lee Bowyer’s newly promoted Addicks in the Championship for his first experience of senior football on loan.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive season last term, putting in strong performances for the development squad and picking up the Academy Player of the Year award.
