Chelsea have decided to hand brilliant midfielder contract to sign!

Chelsea want to hand Mateo Kovacic a new deal as the midfielder’s current contract runs until the summer of 2024, according to reports.

Chelsea have been trying to tie down a number of first-team squad members ever since Ted Boehly arrived at the club over the summer window as they are keen to keep hold of them

And The club want to avoid a situation like N’Golo Kante and Jorginho with both midfielders reaching the end of their current deals in June 2023 but yet to agree on extending their stay at the Bridge – by getting Kovacic signed up to a new contract

Over the past few seasons Kovacic has really developed into an important player of the side and a man that both Graham Potter and former Coach Thomas Tuchel could really rely on.

And it is claimed that the Blues are looking to boost the bank balance of Kovacic by a few more thousand and get him to stay for a couple more seasons –

There are many reasons why Chelsea are keen to tie down the contract of Kovacic – but he really is a solid member of the squad and a man that they would be silly to let go

If the reports are true and the club are keen to give him that long-contract offer – it will be a very good decision to make

There is far too much speculation surrounding a few stars already – so getting him all signed up will be a very good thing for all involved
