Madrid announcement means that Chelsea free to wrap up deal for 198-goal hitman Cavani?

Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of PSG star Edinson Cavani after Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo admitted that a deal is not close for the striker

There has been a lot of speculation in the media over the last few days all suggesting that we will be wrapping up a late January deal to acquire the services of Cavani a loan deal until the ned of the season.

However, there has also been some reports in the media which have suggested that Madrid are also keen on a deal for Cavani and are actually ahead of the club  for a possible deal, as the PSG ace would prefer a move to La Liga.

But,we have now been given the all-clear to complete a deal after Cerezo came out and admitted that there is no agreement with Cavani about a possible deal, he told Spanish publication AS: “There is absolutely nothing with the player.

“We need to score goals and we have great goalscorer, but what we are missing now is a bit of luck and we are not taking our chances.

“Transfers are always complicated but at the moment there is nothing.”

Look, there is no doubt that Cavani has scored goals all over the world at the very highest level, but we just wish that a move for the PSG striker was made a few years ago as he may not be able to adjust to the Premier League.

He has been enjoying himself over in Ligue 1 playing against second-rate side, but the Premier League is different, it is harder and considering he is coming towards the back end of his career would he really have the desire to work hard on a weekly basis to score the type of goals that we may need him too?

He would have been a good signing, a few seasons ago guys.
