Welcome Timo as Bayern boss sends Chelsea message after wrapping up world class deal
Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has made the classy move of congratulating Chelsea for winning the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Werner has been one of the most talked about players of the past few weeks, as all the major clubs are reportedly interested in trying to secure a transfer deal for the pacy little German star.
He has scored 75 goals in 122 matches since making his RB Leipzig debut in 2013. Only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (29) has netted more Bundesliga goals than Werner (25) this season.
His performances, and that relatively low price tag on his head has meant that we have made the first move to try and get the little star to sign up, with reports suggesting he has agreed a £170,000-a-week deal to make the move to London.
But Despite losing out on one of their top targets, Bayern boss Flick was gracious in defeat and commended Frank Lampard’s side for sealing the deal.
‘This is a decision Timo made. And you have to respect that, everything is okay,’ Flick told reporters on BILD
‘Timo is a very good player, also a player who scores. Chelsea made a very good commitment if that’s the case.’
Look, we have said it all along that Werner is well suited to the way we play the game, so the fact that Lampard is moving quickly to get his deals done just shows the intent that he is showing the rest of the Premier League.
He is a world class signing that will help us challenge again next season, when he officially arrives at the club or the deal is officially announced, he will be a fantastic buy for the club.
Welcome Timo
