Bruno Fernandes spoke out about his future amid speculation Chelsea are interested in a summer deal.
We are still facing the possibility of not signing any players over the next few months as FIFA have still not given us an answer on whether or not they will be postponing or cancelling the current ban, but that has not stopped the club from lining up a number of possible transfer deals.
And despite having a number of top-class midfielders at the club already, we are keen to splash the cash and bring in another creative midfielder, especially now that star man Eden Hazard has decided to leave the club after months of speculation.
And one name which has been linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge over the past few weeks is that of Fernandes, with the Sporting Lisbon midfielder impressing this season and helping his side with 50 goals this season, either created or scored.
And we will have a good chance of getting a deal done, especially after Fernandes admitted he will talk to Sporting about his future at the club.
“I know nothing, I will take the next few days to understand what is true,” Fernandes told Sport Mediaset.
“We know that newspapers sometimes have to make a show to move the market and sell. I’m calm, I’m at a big club. I don’t need to move, I’m not trying to leave.
“If the opportunity comes to go to a team that you can’t refuse, I’ll talk to Sporting.”
Losing Hazard was a massive blow to the system and not having him in the squad for the foreseeable future will mean the goals kind of dry up. But if we are able to buy players this transfer window, we are hoping that the club make a move for bigger names than Fernandes.
He may have had a tremendous season, but he is playing in a League that is lower than the English Championship and he would struggle to get anywhere near the 20-plus goals a season mark that we are seeking.
He is a decent player, but is not the man to help fill the void of Hazard.
