£125M Chelsea target encouraged to make move

Former Atletico Madrid star Diego Forlan believes Chelsea target Joao Felix can reach the next level if he leaves the Spanish capital.

Felix came through the ranks at Benfica as a teenager and earned a move to Atletico in 2019 after smashing 20 goals in 43 games during his debut season with the Portuguese giants – numbers that alerted all the big clubs in world football

But although he has not produced those kind of numbers at Atletico – he has become a big part of the Spanish side and Felix’s talents have also seen him break into the Portugal team, where he has scored three times in 22 appearances.

There has been many rumours in the media that the likes of Man City and Liverpool are all ready to delve into that transfer kitty and try to secure a transfer deal for the talented attacker

Now – amid all the speculation – Forlan has opened up and admitted that Felix could reach that next level if he leaves the Spanish club.

“Joao Felix is a very good player, he is young and has a lot of quality,” Forlan told reporters.
“They paid a lot of money for him and he has not been playing as expected, but he is still very young. There are reports coming out about the possibility of him leaving Atletico and, if he leaves, he could even increase his performance.
“I believe in that. It happens a lot. It happened, for example, with Philippe Coutinho, who played very little at Inter and when he went to Liverpool he improved a lot.”
