Chelsea target Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to pen a new deal at AC Milan, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Regarded as one of the finest young stoppers in the game right now, and the man to be the next Gianluigi Buffon, Donnarumma is making a real name for himself in the game and has been in the headlines alot over his future, as he simply could not agree a new contract.
That uncertainty meant that there was an opportunity for the club to wrap up a transfer deal, but that massive £80 million asking price and the fact Donnarumma was not sure whether he wanted to move, meant that we acquired the brilliant Edouard Mendy instead.
That has not stopped rumours that the club may still be interested in Donnarumma, to add a bit of depth to the side, but it seems like they will once again miss out on the chance to sign the Italian big man.
AC Milan sport director Frederic Massara told DAZN: “We’re confident to reach an agreement with Donnarumma and Calhanoglu in order to extend their contracts in the next weeks”
The 21-year-old has made 226 appearances at Milan, with his debut coming at the tender age of 16.
Look, the idea that we could have signed Donnarumma for an absolute bargain is something that would be seen as a real bargain, so the news that he is about to sign a new contract with the Italians will come as a real blow.
In the next couple of years he will develop and become one of the best, so this was the best chance that club had of signing the man on the cheap, he will cost close to £100 million in the future
This is a massive shame guys
