Chelsea are closing in on a transfer deal for Ousmane Dembele, reports have claimed

Dembele is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and talks between player and club over a Nou Camp extension have recently ground to a halt following the Frenchman’s substantial demands.

The winger is reportedly pushing for an annual salary of £25million and a separate signing bonus of £25m, while his agent is believed to have stipulated a commission of £13m – demands which have been deemed ‘crazy’ by the Barcelona hierarchy, according to reports in Spain.

That has led to many reports in the media suggesting that boss Thomas Tuchel is open to the idea of bringing him to the Premier League this transfer window.

Dembele enjoyed his best form at Dortmund under Tuchel, so it would not be a surprise to see the two reunited at Stamford Bridge, especially as Chelsea know they may be able to get the Frenchman for a bargain

And it has been claimed in Spanish media that we are one of three clubs to submit an offer to the Frenchman in order to wrap up a transfer deal.

Now, amid the speculation, and Speaking to RMC Sport, his agent Moussa Sissoko criticised the club’s negotiating strategy.

“It’s a stroke of pressure that doesn’t work with people like us,” he said.

“Maybe it can work with agents who are close with Barcelona. It’s not my case, I am here to defend the interests of my player.

“The truth must be told. Yes, we have demanding demands, but we have already shown that Ousmane’s career choices are not dictated by money, otherwise he wouldn’t be here.

“Then if Barcelona wanted to negotiate, he could have tried to come to the table with us to discuss. Except that there is no discussion and threats no longer work on their side. It’s forbidden. We will assert Ousmane Dembele’s rights if necessary.”
