“Chelsea is our name.”! Rabiot leaving, Wilson ‘first choice’ Sarri told to buy and De Ligt message in ‘Blue is the colour!

Here is the daily roundup of all todays news, gossip and transfer speculation from IcChelseanews.com.

Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt says that he’s concentrating on life at Ajax for the rest of the season, amid speculation we are lining up a big money move.

Boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly a huge fan of the talented lad and has supposedly been eyeing up a January transfer move, as he seeks to find a replacement for the unhappy Andreas Christensen, or the aging David Luiz.

Christensen played a big part in Antonio Conte’s final season at Stamford Bridge and had hoped to keep his place under Sarri, but the Italian has dropped the young man in recent weeks as he looks for experience at the back, and that has led to speculation that he could leave the club in January.

But any hope Sarri had of trying to prise De Ligt away from Ajax in January seems to have disappeared after he admitted no interest in leaving Ajax just yet, telling the Sky Sports website: “We’re still on course to try and win three different competitions.

“The Champions League, league, and KNVB Cup. In my opinion, I can’t be distracted by all of that [transfer talk], above all because I’m the captain of the team.”

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson would be first choice at Chelsea if he joined in January, claims Blues fan Paul Merson.

Wilson has been the subject of shock transfer speculation over the past few months, with rumours Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is determined to try and take him to Stamford Bridge for a fee of £30 million.

Both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have simply not been good enough this season and only have six Premier League goals between them, while Wilson has eight for the struggling Bournemouth.

And Merson, the former Arsenal star, reckons the former Coventry man has got what it takes to score goals for Maurizio Sarri’s side, and would be first choice at the Blues if he got that ‘big move’

“You’d be going to Chelsea, one of the best clubs in the country, and he’s got a chance of playing,” Merson said on Sky Sports.

“Believe me, if he goes to Chelsea in January he’ll play, he’ll be first-choice centre-forward.

“He’d be in front of Morata, he’d be in front of Giroud. I don’t think they’re going to buy him to sit behind them two.

“No disrespect to them two, but why bring him in?

“You’re probably talking about £30m, £25m-£30m. It’s all about the here and now.

“This is for the next two seasons for Chelsea. And then I think in the third season that will be it.

“I think, for me, I’ve said it all along, he has international movement.’

Sky Sports pundit Alan McInally says Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri must sign an out-and-out striker next month

Eden Hazard was used in a central role against Manchester City last weekend as the Italian boss decided to drop the unimpressive pair of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

Giroud and Morata have not been finding the net on a regular basis this season and have only managed six Premier League goals between them, despite having some of the most creative players in the Premier League behind them.

And that has led to speculation that they could make a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, Inter Milan hitman Mauri Icardi and Napoli goal-machine Dries Mertens.

Now McInally says Sarri need to buy a striker to give them the best chance of finishing above the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal for a top four spot.

“I think they have to (sign a striker),” McInally said on the Daily Express website

“If we think they’re not going to win the title then to finish in the top four they’re going to have to spend money on a striker. Obviously Morata is injured.

They’re so inconsistent Chelsea. You couldn’t guarantee they’re going to go to Brighton (on Sunday) and win, it’s one of them.

“They’ll be favourites to win the game but you don’t know what Chelsea is turning up.

“And if they want to finish in the top four, they’ll need to get someone who can put the ball in the net regularly.”

Adrien Rabiot, the reported Chelsea target won’t be signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the French club have announced.

Rabiot is one of the most gifted and talented players at PSG, but has been unable to agree new terms that will keep him at the club for the foreseeable future, and that has led to speculation that he will leave the club in the coming transfer windows, with the club just one of a number of top clubs that are reportedly keen on trying to nail down his signature.

Now PSG sporting director Antero Henrique confirmed that Rabiot will not be staying beyond this season.

He told Yahoo France: “At this point, no. It was a decision made by the club following a meeting I had with the player.

“The player informed me that he would not sign a contract and that he wanted to leave the club by being free at the end of the season, i.e. at the end of his contract. For the player, this will have a very clear consequence: he will remain on the bench for an indefinite period.”
