Chelsea transfer target Philippe Coutinho has ‘no chance’ of signing for Arsenal, according to European football expert Julien Laurens.
Coutinho has been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few months as all indications suggest that he will be leaving Barcelona in the summer, with a move back to the premier League high up on his agenda, according to his agent.
We are interested in adding a few superstars to the side when the transfer window opens up, and we seem to be leading the chase to sign the Brazilian, as a move to London is reportedly interesting the midfielder.
However, we have been handed a massive boost ahead of Arsenal to sign Coutinho, after Laurens opened up and claimed that the Arsenal have no chance of getting a deal done with Barcelona.
“No chance, it’s impossible,” Laurens told ESPN FC.
“I know where it comes from, it comes from France, a newspaper with no credibility whatsoever.
“We could talk about it but there’s no chance.
“It’s not my one and the only thing that could make people doubt slightly is that Coutinho’s agent is obviously Kia Joorabchian, who is very, very good friends and very close to Edu, the Arsenal sporting director, but that’s where it stops.
“Arsenal cannot afford either a transfer fee, his wages, not even a loan, a paying loan or anything like this.
“There were already links last summer with Coutinho.
“Even if Mesut Ozil leaves, they’re not going to replace him with Coutinho.
“So this one I can guarantee you will never happen.”
Coutinho is a world class player that will improve the side, but we believe that a loan deal would be a better solution than a permanent move as he is no longer worth that £70 million that Barcelona are reportedly seeking
