Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer speculation from icchelseanews that we think you may have missed featuring Joseph Wheeler-Henry, Dani Olmo and Victor Osimhen…

Barcelona will not be able to register CHELSEA target Dani Olmo, after a Spanish court rejected an appeal, meaning the former RB Leipzig winger may not be able to play for the club from January 1.

The 26-year-old, who helped Spain win Euro 2024, joined Barcelona from Leipzig in August but he was only registered for the first half of the season as Barcelona could not meet La Liga’s wage cap restrictions.

Barcelona registered Olmo after their squad was hit by long-term injuries, allowing the club to allocate a portion of wages to register the player. His four-month allowance will expire at the end of December and the Spanish court rejected the club’s request to provisionally register him.

The Commercial Court No 10 has rejected Barcelona’s request for provisional registration of Olmo until June 2025, a ruling welcomed by La Liga.

“La Liga has today learned of the ruling… rejecting the request for the provisional registration of Dani Olmo until June 30, 2025, on the grounds that none of the necessary conditions for the adoption of an interim measure have been met,” said the Spanish league in a statement on Friday.

“The ruling also stresses that ‘the purpose of allowing additional spending is so that a long-term injury does not weaken the team’s competitiveness, not to use a long-term injury to allow the registration of players whose salaries exceed the limit, which is what FC Barcelona is attempting’.”

We may not need Olmo, but the player is quality and would add some magic to that Blues attack that is sure.

DEFENDER DEAL ANNOUNCED

Defender Joseph Wheeler-Henry has signed his first professional contract with CHELSEA, the Blues have announced on the club website this week.

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Wheeler-Henry is an attacking right-back who joined Chelsea during his Under-13s season after a spell at Hendon.

‘During the 2023/24 season, he was part of our winning side in the Under-17 Premier League Cup, contributing to a 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final at Molineux.

‘As he navigates his first full season at Under-18s level, Wheeler-Henry has established himself in Hassan Sulaiman’s squad and featured across our 2024/25 Under-17 and Under-18 Premier League Cup campaigns, as well as league fixtures.

‘He also came on as a substitute in Chelsea’s first FA Youth Cup fixture of the season, helping secure a 3-2 victory over Leicester City.

‘Congratulations, Joseph!’

The lad is a serious talent and fans are delighted to see that he has agreed to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge, he fully deserves it and now hopefully he will push on to challenge for a regular place in that first starting eleven.

We always like to see the young players getting the contracts that they deserve, but as we said, the hard work starts now as this squad is very exciting and will be very difficult to break into over the next couple of seasons.

OSIMHEN DECISION MADE

Nigerian striker and long-term CHELSEA target Victor Osimhen has made clear his intentions to stay at Galatasaray at least until the end of the current season, dispelling any speculation about a possible departure in the January window.

The 25-year-old Nigeria striker has hit the ground running in Turkey after completing a season-long loan move from Napoli to Galatasaray in September, scoring twelve goals in fifteen games

There has been alot of transfer speculation in the media that the likes of we are still interested in getting a deal done for a new striker in the January window, despite their great start to the new season, and Osimhen is a player that the club are very much interested in signing.

However –  The coach of the Turkish team, Okan Buruk, reaffirmed in a recent interview that both the player and the club are aligned in this objective: “He is happy here and wants to stay with us until the end of the season,” the coach stressed

Osimhen is a world class player that will bang in the goals wherever he will be, but we have Nicolas Jackson at the club and performing at a very high level, he just needs to add a few more goals to his side.

There has been alot of rumours about a new striker being needed at Stamford Bridge, but as we said, Jackson has been improving and his goal involvements this season has helped the club challenge for a top four spot.

Maybe we dont need to sign a player like Osimhen?
