Icon Cole opens up and hopes Abraham can get better when Werner arrives at the club
Ashley Cole hopes Timo Werner’s move to Chelsea ‘spurs on’ Tammy Abraham and says he can become a ‘better player’.
After monthsof transfer speculation, we managed to complete a transfer deal to bring the very gifted Timo Werner to the club in hope he is able to add some more goals to the attack.
Werner netted an impressive 34 goals for RB leipzig this season, which is leading many to believe that Abraham could be dropped from the side next season as Werner will be considered the clubs number one striker.
But Cole has urged Abraham to see the benefits of Werner’s move, Asked whether our deal for Werner will ‘spur on’ Abraham and improve him as a player, Cole told Sky Sports: ‘I hope so. ‘To have competition is healthy and they [Chelsea] won’t be so reliant on Tammy and [Olivier] Giroud now.
‘I’ve never been in that position but when you get top players in, you learn from them. That’s important.
‘He will develop and get better and have a little more hunger to play. I don’t think it will harm him.
‘Hopefully it will make him a better player.’
Abraham still has a lot to learn in the game as a striker and will be challenging a striker that is already proven in top level football around Europe, but this is what he needs to keep on progressing and developing into a player that can be one of the best.
We are hoping that the pair are able to play alongside each other, we are big fans of Tammy[the_ad id=”164″]
