Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer speculation from icchelseanews featuring the likes of Enzo Maresca, Christopher Nkunku and Angel Gomes…

The January transfer window will give the likes of CHELSEA an opportunity to open talks with Angel Gomes and try to bring the new England International to Stamford Bridge on a free at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old spent almost a decade at Manchester United’s academy but only made ten appearances for the first-team before being sold in 2020 after he decided that he needed to leave the club in order to further his career

Lille immediately sent Gomes out on loan but the midfielder has racked up more than 100 appearances for the French side over the past three seasons and has now fully established himself as one of the most exciting young players in the French League.

Gomes’ form has left Manchester United fans wondering why they let him go and and there has been alot of transfer speculation in the media that some of the clubs biggest Premier League sides are ready to bring him back to the England game.

While not helping out this season, in January the Blues will be able to talk to players in other European leagues whose contracts are expiring next summer, to come to pre-contract agreements with them over joining next summer.

MARESCA WANTS NKUNKU STAY

CHELSEA manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his desire to keep forward Christopher Nkunku at Stamford Bridge.

Only afforded starts in cup competitions, the Frenchman has still been impressive, notching up nine goals in seven games in the Carabao Cup and Conference League combined.

However – with his Premier League minutes being limited by Enzo Maresca, there has been some shock reports in the media which have claimed that a move to Man United, PSG and Barcelona could be on the cards, as the clubs are reportedly interested in a deal for the French star.

However – despite the lack of Premier League minutes, despite the fact the player is unhappy and despite all the transfer rumours, Maresca has now come out and admitted that he would like the Frenchman to stay at the club in January.

“We like Christo and we want him here,” Maresca said.

“There will always be players that are not happy and some that will ask to leave in January. I am not sure if they will be Christo’s or another player’s case. We want to keep them here because we are happy with them here.”

We would be shocked to see him leave the club in the January transfer window, but if the right offer arrives, the player may feel that he needs to asks his boss if he can leave, he needs to be playing.

He is a quality player and we are hoping that something can be worked out as we would hate to see the man leave.

STERLING DECISION MADE

CHELSEA have reportedly made a decision over Raheem Sterling ahead of the January transfer window amid his disappointing loan spell at Arsenal.

Sterling joined us from Man City in 2022 for a fee of £47.5million, with the England international tallying 31 direct goal contributions [19 goals, 12 assists] in 81 appearances for the Blues.

However – the decision was made in the summer transfer window that he would be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge and make the loan move to Arsenal, who were interested in adding a bit more depth to that Gunners side.

But Blues winger Sterling, 30, has failed to make much of an impact on the pitch since joining the Gunners in a temporary switch back in August. He has played 11 games for Mikel Arteta’s side to date, registering just one goal and two assists for Arsenal.

Sterling was handed a rare start in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace last week – but he’s struggled for minutes across the Premier League and Champions League – and is regularly an unused substitute.

Despite his lack of game time, though, the board have decided they will not recall Sterling from his season-long loan at the Emirates in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Sterling is happy to sit on the bench every week for Arsenal, he can stay there as the club are also paying most of his wages. We are sure that he has played his last game for the club, he will be sold in the summer
