AC Milan have confirmed contract-rebel keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has left the club, opening the door for Chelsea to wrap up a transfer deal.

The 22-year-old stopper’s deal runs out next month and the Italian have refused to match his wage demands after drawn-out talks which have lasted for more than 12 months now.

We are one club that are reportedly very interested in trying to bring the big Italian to the Premier League, while the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are also reportedly ready to try and get a deal done.

But amid the rumours that Milan are keen to keep hold of the DON, the Italian giants have now come out and reveal that the Italian International has indeed left the club, opening the door for his potential suitors to save £70 million.

Milan technical director Paolo Maldini told reporters: “He [Donnarumma] has been a protagonist of this season.

“It’s getting more and more difficult to find players who start in a team and always end up staying.

“The roads with Gigio are splitting, I can only wish him the best.”

This is massive newsthe club as they know that Donnarumma has the ability and quality to go on and become one of the very best stoppers in the world, and they have the money to match his £350,000-a-week wages.

It will be interesting to see just where he ends up, but at the end of the day, we would love to see one of the big Premier League clubs swoop in and offer him a contract.
