CHELSEA have been encouraged to make a move for striker Victor Boniface by one of their former stars.

We are a club that like to spend money – they like to sign players that could develop into world class stars and like to sign talents that are already having an impact on world football.

But it is no secret that the club are in dire need of adding a new striker to that front-line – they have been lacking goals this season – and there has been some big names already linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

But amid all the transfer talks – and Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, former star John Obi Mikel heaped praise on Victor Boniface. The Bayer Leverkusen striker, who has enjoyed an excellent vein of form in front of goal this season, has been briefly linked with a move to Chelsea amid Mauricio Pochettino’s search for a new frontman.

“He will become a complete striker in the next couple of years,” said the former Blues midfielder. “He has the physique, he is quick, good on the ball, technically very good and it’s difficult to see strikers that are that big and strong and powerful and then good on the ball as well.

“His assists as well, not just scoring goals, is something that will make this kid special, really, really special. I can’t wait to see what his journey will be in the next couple of years.”

Boniface is certainly a very good striker that could develop into a world class act – but the club need to sign a proven player that is already competed at the very top and proven himself.
