Barella to Chelsea? President Giulini has transfer message for sarri over possible £40 millon deal
Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini has told Chelsea that they will not be signing Nicolo Barella in January.
Reports in the media over the last few weeks have claimed we were prepared to submit a €45 million (£40.7m) offer to sign the 21-year-old in the winter window after Maurizio Sarri had been impressed with the scouting reports on the lad.
Sarri is seeking long-term replacements for the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Pedro, who are coming towards the back-end of their careers and are seemingly destined for a move away in the coming transfer windows, as we look to add fresher, younger players to the squad.
But despite reports we are closing in on a deal for Barella, Cagliari are adamant that he will remain with them for at least the remainder of the season, and have no intention of letting Barella leave the club in the winter window.
‘It’s been like this for months,’ Giulini told Radiolina.
‘I believe it’s only right that we enjoy him for as long as he’s here with us.
‘If things change then we’ll announce it, but he’s very happy here and the club no intention of selling him.
‘Reading that there are many offers for him isn’t right. ‘I hope he stays with us for a long time and certainly, like I’ve already said before, he won’t leave in January.’

Despite his undoubted ability, there is many in the media who still believe that Barella is not ready to make that big move to the Premier League as he needs another couple of seasons developing in Serie A.
So if a bidding war does take place in the summer, the I hope we don’t pay too much to win the battle for the lad.
