Chelsea announce left-back deal – Blues tipped to sign Frenchman – Chelsea sent £325k-a-week message
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed –
Former Chelsea defender Pat Nevin has urged the club to avoid signing Marcus Rashford as the Blues cannot make many more mistakes in the transfer market.
He has really struggled this season under boss Erik Ten Hag and has only managed to score 8 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils, which is not good enough for a player of his ability.
However – there is again talk that Man United would be open to the idea of letting their academy star leave the club and there has been some stunning speculation that we could make a move
However – amid all the speculation and rumours – Nevin has opened up and claimed that the club should avoid signing Marcus Rashford this summer window – as they cannot make any more mistakes in the transfer market – He told Genting Casinos: “There is a fear when I think about Marcus Rashford going to Chelsea, he is a good player but he had a number of difficulties last season and he hasn’t looked quite himself.
“You’re also going to have to pay a huge amount of money for Rashford and CHELSEA can’t afford to make more mistakes financially, that’s no secret.
“You need to make sure you do this right. I have no idea what sort of Chelsea team we could see by the start of next season, could Mudryk be gone too?
‘There’s a million different things. The upside for every Chelsea fan is that there are good players there.”
KANTE RETURN?
Chelsea are favourites to re-sign N’Golo Kante according to Gambling.com.
Despite turning 34 in March, he has been a standout player for France during this summer’s European Championships and has looked every inch the player that helped the Blues win so many titles over the years.
That has led to some stunning reports in the media which have claimed that he could be heading back to the Premier League – but despite the fact we allowed the Frenchman to leave – it is claimed that the Blues are now favourites to get a potential deal done.
“The idea of Kante returning to CHELSEA after 12 months away may be hard to imagine at first,” Grea Lea, Gambling.com’s football betting analyst said.
“But the Blues are the 7/4 favourites to re-sign a player who won a Premier League title, an FA Cup and the Champions League across seven years at Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea could certainly do with adding more experience to the ranks. They ended the last campaign strongly, but the departure of Mauricio Pochettino means 2024/25 could be another season of transition. Kante’s know-how would help to smooth the process.
“However, it is still difficult to envisage this deal actually happening. Kante is 33 years of age and Chelsea would surely prefer a younger ball-winner.”
DYLAN WILLIAMS DEAL DONE –
Dylan Williams has joined Burton Albion on a season-long loan, which includes an option to make the move permanent.
CHELSEA posted on the club website: ‘The 20-year-old joined the Blues from Derby County in January 2022 and during his first few months in our Academy helped our Under-18 side reach the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup while featuring prominently for the Under-21s.
‘He remained a regular and consistent performer at that age group and in January of this year earned a place on the substitutes’ bench for the first team’s FA Cup third-round tie against Preston North End.
‘All the best, Dylan!
On signing Williams said: “I spoke to Charlie (Webster) briefly on the phone and he told me about the process and the direction this club is going in and explained the reasons why he was joining, which made me want to come here even more.
“I was with Mark (Robinson) at Chelsea and he’s such a great guy, he’s probably one of the most honest guys I’ve ever met. He’s an exceptional person and cares about everyone that he works with on and off the pitch.
“To join a club that is going through such big changes and changes that are going to take the club in the right direction, makes it feel amazing to be here.”
Bendik Hareide said: “We are pleased to welcome Dylan Williams to Burton Albion. He is a young and talented left-back who brings a solid mix of defensive ability and attacking support. We are looking forward to seeing him grow and contribute towards our team.”
