Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that you guys could have missed today –

CHELSEA midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu has completed a season-long loan move to Premier League side Southampton, as the Frenchman looks to get some game time under his belt.

The France international joined last summer but an injury saw him miss the bulk of his debut campaign. In pre-season he scored against Inter Milan and he now looks set to receive regular Premier League minutes with the Saints securing his services for the upcoming season.

CHELSEA posted on the club website: ‘ Lesley, 20, joined the Blues last summer from Rennes and featured on 15 occasions during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

The France Under-21 international was part of the first-team squad for our summer tour of the USA, scoring against Wrexham, before also netting in our pre-season friendly against Inter Milan.

Lesley will now continue his development with the Saints, who secured a return to the Premier League last season under Russell Martin.

We look forward to monitoring and supporting Lesley’s development throughout his loan at St Mary’s.

Good luck, Lesley!’

We hate to see such talents leave the club but this switch is probably the bet thing for the lad to make as it will give him some real Premier League experience with a decent side.

He is not going to get better sitting on the bench so we wish him all the best and hope that he is able to impress.

BOSS DELIGHTED WITH BURSTOW DEAL –

Tim Walter believes new signing Mason Burstow can provide something different to his side after it was announced that the young striker has now left CHELSEA and joined Hull City on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old striker spent last season on loan at Sunderland in the Championship but managed just one goal – against Stoke City – in 20 appearances, though just 12 were starts.

The club made the decision that he could leave the club this transfer window, and once Hull heard the news that he was going to be on the market – quickly made the move and completed the signing of Burstow.

City feel Burstow has raw potential and can have a positive impact and flourish in Walter’s attacking style of play. The German boss says the pacey frontman has the skills to develop under his tutelage and get his career back on track.

“He’s a young player. He definitely has the willingness to learn, he has a good body, he can work he’s really sharp and he’s strong, so I like him as a player,” Walter told Hull Live.

“And if you stay in front of him, he looks massive, so that’s what we need and that’s what we want and he’s exactly what we’re looking for. Mason has good sharpness, and a good body shape and also like that (then pace to get in behind).

“If you were playing against the lower team, it’s different because it’s just about coming out, stepping in again, it’s always out and in out and in, it’s just short runs but it’s more about the reaction and the timing when you do it, so you have to be fast.”

The midfielder joined on a scholarship agreement last summer from Newcastle United. He has played for the clubs Under 17s and Under-18s side and the decision was made to give him a new contract at the club.

‘The youngster was named in the matchday squad for games against Man City, Leeds United and Leicester City last season.
