Bayern decision means Chelsea free to wrap up free signing of world class defender?
Bayern Munich have withdrawn their offer of a contract extension for Chelsea target David Alaba.
Since making his first-team debut under Louis van Gaal in 2010, Alaba has gone on to make almost 400 appearances for the club in all competitions, and in that time, he has won nine Bundesliga titles, five DFB-Pokals and the Champions League.
However, there is big speculation in the media that he is not happy with the current contract offer that has been placed on the table, and is now considering his options this transfer window.
Bayern had hoped that their latest contract offer would tempt Alaba into signing a new deal and staying at the club, but the Germans have now withdrawn their contract offer to Alaba, opening the door for our famous club to make a move
Bayern president Herbert Hainer told Bavarian outlet BR24: “We presented him with a really, very good, very fair competitive offer – especially during these times.
“We told David’s agent during the last meeting that we wanted clarity and an answer by the end of October because we want to plan for such an important position and player.
“But we haven’t heard anything until Saturday.
“Our sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic then contacted the agent and the answer was that the offer is still unsatisfying and that we should think more.
“We then decided to take the offer off the table completely. That means there is no longer any offer.”
Alaba is one of the very best left-backs in the game right now so the fact that we could land him for nothing next summer is chance that the club cant miss out on right?
He is world class and would only boost the depth in the squad.
