Argentinean speaks on imminent Chelsea deal for world class midfielder
Sergio Aguero has reacted to the news that CHELSEA midfielder Mateo Kovacic could join Manchester City this summer.
Kovacic, 28, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January 2024. the club do not want to lose the man, but there is a feeling that he is ready to depart the club.
Kovacic had been in talks with the Premier League champions over the last week but there has now been a breakthrough, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Croatian is said to be keen on the move with Chelsea happy to let him go.
On the possibility of Mateo Kovacic swapping Chelsea for the Etihad, Aguero said:: ‘We know that Kovacic is a midfielder with very good ball handling, very much like City. He has gone through Real Madrid, CHELSEA and experience also counts.
‘We will have to see what Ilkay [Gundogan] decides, he has been key at City and in the last two seasons in particular.
‘I would love for him to continue at the club, although I respect the final decision he makes. He is a great professional and a better person.’
Kovacic has been brilliant for us over the seasons and if he wants to go and sit on the bench at Man City – then good luck to you mate
He may win a few more trophies and get a few more million – but his career could go in the wrong direction if he does make the move to Manchester.
