Signed, sealed and announced as Chelsea confirm Blackman deal has been agreed!

Chelsea have confirmed and announced that stopper Jamaal Blackman has completed a loan move to Rotherham.

Blackman joined the Academy in 2006 at the U13 level, but has yet to progress beyond third goalkeeper for the first-team, collecting eight different loans during that time.

He split time at Vitesse and Bristol Rovers last season, making 10 appearances for the latter — his first competitive minutes in two years following a broken leg while on loan at Leeds United in 2018.

And despite the fact that we are seeking to add another stopper to the side, we are making room for a potential new signing, meaning that Blackman needs to get sent out in order to get some much needed game time.

We announced on their website: “Jamal Blackman has joined Rotherham United on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.

“Rotherham were promoted as League One runners-up last term after the final standings were decided using the points-per-game model. The Millers were last in the second tier in 2018/19.”

He Tweeted: “It’s been a long 18 months away from a full season of football and to get myself back into the Championship on a season long loan with @OfficialRUFC I’m delighted to be here!

“I’m gonna put my everything in between those sticks to make sure we have a successful campaign ⚪️ #RUFC pic.twitter.com/Te8oquhFD5″

The lad is very talented but this is a move that will be very good for his development, so hopefully he can get the game time that he needs to come back and challenge for a regular spot.
