Chelsea are in advanced talks to bring world class defender to the Bridge this window

Chelsea are in “advanced talks” with Paris Saint-Germain skipper Thiago Silva over completing a shock summer free transfer, reports claim.

We have looked vulnerable in defence throughout the campaign, and have shipped 54 Premier League goals in total, more than any other club in the top 10, meaning that we will need to add a leader that is ready to help add some world class quality to that back line.

And recent reports have suggested that there could be a deal on the horizon for free agent, and one of the best defenders in the game right now, Thiago Silva.

Reports have claimed that we were offered the chance to sign the Brazilian by the players agents, who is about to play his final game for PSG in Sunday’s Champions League final after eight years of exceptional service.

And The Athletic report that talks with we have reached an “advanced” stage, with both parties having been in conversation for “several days” about a two-year deal for the defender.

There are still issues to be ironed out, however, and there are other clubs interested in the player, but this is a story that is very interesting as Silva would bring some leadership to that back-line.

Look, Thiago Silva is a player that is coming towards the back end of his playing days, but the man is just the type of player we need at the back until next summer, when we will have more funds to land the players that we really want.
