Xavi statement officially hands Chelsea the chance to sign attacker
Chelsea have been handed a major transfer boost as Barcelona boss Xavi admitted Ousmane Dembele may have played his last game for the club against Villarreal.
The France forward, 24, has failed to agree a new contract at the Nou Camp, with his current deal set to expire this summer, and that has led to alot of speculation that he could come to the Premier League
The club were very much interested in getting some kind of transfer deal done, especially after the Spanish club told him he could leave in the January transfer window after failing to agree that new contract.
We have finally got a new owner as Ted Boehly is on his way to the Club and it is still expected that players will be signed during the summer transfer window and a contract will be handed to Dembele
And amid all the speculation about his future – Xavi has opened up and suggested that Dembele may have played his last game for the club after failing to agree that contract that Barca wanted him to sign
The Spanish tactician said: “It could be his last game, but it could also be the last game for others.
“I like him and he can help us in the future. It depends on the negotiations.”
It would be an interesting signing for Chelsea, as we would all be interested to see just how he would manage to play in the Premier League when he has been unable to succeed in La Liga
He could be a world class player, but we firmly believe that he would not be able to make an impact for the club, he is not the same player.
