Frank Lampard told to make summer move and sign world class La Liga star Oblak
Graeme Souness has urged Chelsea to make a move for Jan Oblak following the keepr’s inspired performance in Atletico Madrid’s Champions League win over Liverpool.
We failed to get any business done during the January window, but it will mean that Frank Lampard will be able to delve into the clubs transfer kitty and add a few players to the squad in the summer that will add some experience, and quality in the right areas of the pitch.
And one area of the pitch that he reportedly wants to build on in the summer is that of the stopper area, as there have been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks that Lampard is not happy with the performances of young Spanish stopper Kepa.
The Spanish shot-stopper, who is the most expensive goalkeeper ever, has struggled for form this season and was axed in favour of veteran Willy Caballero, as Lampard has made it very clear that Kepa’s standards have not been good enough for a team chasing a top-four finish, and he already has his eyes on a replacement with Oblak on the shopping list.
Oblak has been brilliant for Madrid over the past few seasons and is now easily regarded as one of the finest stoppers in the game, with Frank Lampard reportedly a massive fan of the La Liga star.
And following his impressive display against Liverpool in the Champions League this week, former Liverpool star Souness has urged the club to make a move and snap him up, he asked his fellow pundits in the RTE studio: “Do we know hold old he is? (to which they replied: 27) There you go Chelsea!
“Chelsea are looking for a goalkeeper. He’s been a top man for a long time.”
Oblak is easily regarded as one of the top five stoppers in the game right now and would be a fantastic signing for the club
