Sancho told to wait for Chelsea offer, Cascarino worried about Chilwell deal and Dunk welcomed in Icchelseanews roundup…

ony Cascarino would welcome Chelsea doing a deal for Brighton’s consistent central defender Lewis Dunk

Now we all know that Frank Lampard is seeking to put a side together that is worthy of challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for that Premier League title next season, and already has started on working on the squad by landing two top attackers.

However, there are some questions at the back, and Frank Lampard needs to delve into that transfer kitty and find a leader to sort out the club’s defensive problems, with a number of possible players that could solve their issues

According to reports on the SUN website, we have already made their move to try and sign the Brighton Captian and have reportedly offered around £40 million to conclude a deal.

And amid the speculation, Cascarino has opened up and admitted that he would welcome the possible signing of Dunk this transfer window, he told the TalkSport website: “He’s not just a brute that wins headers. He’s a fine footballer,” he remarked about the 28-year-old.

“If you said to me, of the bottom half of the table who I think is the very best centre-half, I think it’s him.”

Tony Cascarino has opened up and admitted he is worried about the possible price that Chelsea may be paying for Ben Chilwell.

Leicester were sitting pretty in those top four spots for most of the season, but on the last day of the premier League season, the Foxes failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

That means a whole host of the clubs players could look to leave the club ins search of top-level football, and one of those is Ben Chilwell, who is heavily tipped to make a move and sign with  us

But Cascarino has admitted that he is not sure about the price that is being talked about for Chilwell,

He told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: “Chilwell is a very good player, a very good footballer but I don’t think he’s the greatest defender, as a left-back, which sort of ticks a few boxes that Chelsea are already suffering with, with [Marcos] Alonso at left-back. He’s probably quite guilty of being far better going one way than the other. Also Emerson.

“It’s a lot of money. I watched him against Watford [a 1-1 draw in June] and Ismaila Sarr absolutely ran him ragged. I was quite surprised how easily he got the better of Chilwell on the day.

“He’s a good footballer and he’s very good creatively going forward. I just think it’s a huge price for someone.

“I think Chelsea need, in both positions, really good full-backs who can do the defensive work duties really well.

“Reece James is a great right-back. You can play him in a five and push him on when you want an attacking minded game but Chelsea leak too many goals and their full-backs are very pivotal to the way they play.

“There are a lot of times in games that their full-backs are being exposed and exploited and they’re paying the price.”

Jadon Sancho should snub a move to Manchester United this summer and instead wait for Chelsea to swoop in a year, according to Danny Murphy.

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been closely linked with a switch to Old Trafford but United missed the deadline imposed upon the deal by the German club, and that has led to reports suggesting that he will now not be leaving the club this summer.

But Murphy now believes that the former Manchester City youth may be better sitting on his options until next year, and should wait for the likes of Chelsea to possibly make their move next summer window.

“United are an attractive proposition, one of the biggest clubs in the world with a young and exciting team, but Sancho won’t be short of suitors in his career and he’ll be aware that in a year’s time, when football finances are a bit steadier, he may have a choice that also includes Liverpool, his ‘local’ team Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid,” Murphy wrote for the Daily Mail.

“It’s possible he may prefer to wait and weigh up his options after the Euros next summer rather than rocking the boat now by telling Dortmund he wants to leave.

“If that’s the case and United are fighting against an inflated fee and a player considering other options, they have a problem – and that’s without factoring in the agent fees that usually accompany a deal like this.

“Sancho is young and publicly respectful but his career to date indicates a player who knows his own mind and will have a say in his future. If his heart really is set on joining United, there are ways of letting all relevant parties aware.

“Whatever is beneficial for your career, you are going to try to make it happen. If United know that, I’d pay Dortmund the asking price even if I admire the principle of not being dictated to. Sancho’s value isn’t going to diminish.

“However, judging by what I’ve seen so far there is no rebellion from Sancho, which makes me sense he’s not desperate to move to United.”
