Argentine officially signs with Chelsea, Lampard delighted striker has agreed deal, Exciting Ziyech message sent to fans
Caballero officially signs up, Giroud signs Chelsea deal, Ziyech message sent in icchelseanews that you may have missed…
Willy Caballero has opened up after officially agreeing to stay with the Chelsea for a further 12 months.
The Argentine has primarily been back-up for No.1 keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, although he was utilised by ex-manager Maurizio Sarri in the cup competitions, and made just nine appearances under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri this season.
However, with the reports that Frank Lampard has not been happy with the performances of Kepa, the 38-year old stood in for the Spaniard after a poor run of form midway through the season and is obviously considered a valued member of the Blues first-team.
And recent reports in the media reported that Lampard told the hierarchy that he intended to keep hold of Caballero for at least another 12 months, a deal just needed to be wrapped up by the club.
And after a few weeks of talks, that deal has now been completed and Caballero delight at officially signing with us.
The Argentine goalie beamed on the Chelsea website: “I am very happy to make this announcement.
“It is a privilege to be part of this squad and family, at one of the most historic clubs in the Premier League.
“It is a difficult time for everyone right now so I feel blessed by this opportunity and truly appreciate it.
“I want to thank my teammates for helping me to be at my best and I want to thank the boss and club for extending my contract.
“I’m sure they will continue to demand the maximum from me and I will compete with the same energy as always.
“I am very happy.”
Chelsea have confirmed that Olivier Giroud’s contract has been extended for another year, and both the player and Frank Lampard has reacted.
There was even speculation in the media that he was all set to leave the club during the January window, but we were unable to sign a new striker, and Abraham picking up a serious injury, it meant that Lampard needed the Frenchman to stay put until at least the end of the season.
However, just 24 hours after that news broke that we are hoping to seal a deal, we have come out and confirmed that Giroud has agreed a new contract with the club and will not be leaving Stamford Bridge during the summer window.
The Frenchman said on the Chelsea website: “I am delighted to continue my journey and adventure at Chelsea.
“I can’t wait to get back to playing and enjoying competitive football with my teammates.
“I’m looking forward to wearing the Chelsea shirt again, especially in front of our fans at a full Stamford Bridge, whenever it is safe to do so.”
Boss Frank Lampard added: “Since I have been back at Chelsea, Olivier has been brilliant as a professional and as a man in general.
[the_ad id=”164″]“He has great qualities to help the squad both on and off the pitch, not only with his talent but with the example he sets every day and the experience he brings to our young squad.
“I am very pleased that will continue next season.”
Hakim Ziyech has been compared to football legends Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten and Dennis Bergkamp ahead of his move to Chelsea.
We decided to make our move way back in February to try and tempt the winger to the club, a move that has been heralded as a summer bargain, due to the fact that we are paying just £37 million to secure his services.
There have been many out there that believe he will be a massive player for us when he officially signs up, and many fans are excited to see just what he is able to bring to the club.
Now Dutch commentator Jan Roelfs, who regularly covers Ajax, is confident that the 27-year-old is worth the wait as his quality is undeniable, and Roelfs even compared his talent to that of Ajax legends Cruyff, Van Basten and Bergkamp who are highly regarded as some of the best forwards in the history of the game.
He told the NOS podcast: “Ziyech will not be lost in England, he has so much quality.
“When I make a list of Ajax players, I think of Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp and Hakim Ziyech, in that order. I really think he is close to that as a stylist.
“I go to the stadium for someone like Ziyech – that is an important condition for me. There are a few football players like that.”
Lets hope that he comes to the club and puts in the kind of performances he has been over the past few seasons, we really can afford for Ziyech to be a massive flop at the club
