Brazilian Silva opens up and announces Mendy ‘fully deserves’ his move to Chelsea this summer

Rafael Da Silva has claimed that Edouard Mendy deserves a summer move to sign with Chelsea.

Frank Lampard has been keen to add competition to the goalkeeper’s position amid Kepa’s underwhelming form, and has been eyeing up a number of deals this transfer window in order to get the club more defensively solid.

That has led us to Rennes star and Senegal international Mendy, 28, who has been watched by coaches for some time now and has already seen two offers arrive from the Premier League outfit over the last few weeks.

Mendy’s arrival would complete a hugely successful summer transfer window for the club, who have already spent over £200 million ($258m) to sign Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz.

Now, amid all the speculation, The Frenchman has been tipped to seal a high profile switch by his Rennes team-mate Da Silva, who told <Telefooton Tuesday: “We are a little selfish, we don’t want to lose Edouard Mendy.

“But it’s part of football and the transfer market. He’s a great goalkeeper who deserves what happens to him.”

Look, we will welcome Mendy to the club when he officially makes that move to Stamford Bridge, and we are sure that he will add  a bit more depth to the squad, which is always good.

Is he the answer that we need? We really dont know.

But all we know is that he needs the chance to prove himself at the club if he does indeed sign for us, and we will give him that.

We were just hoping that a more elite stopper would be signed by the club this summer,
