Boss confirms Chelsea target wants move, Fans told £150M will be interested in move, Blues trying sign star
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer speculation featuring Kobbie Mainoo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Cole Palmer…
CHELSEA cult hero Pat Nevin believes the idea of joining Manchester United will always retain an appeal for Cole Palmer, although he he also admitted that the Blues attacker is years and years away from that potential move
Since making the decision to leave Manchester City and make the move to the club just a few seasons ago, Cole Palmer has developed into one of the most dangerous players in the Premier League, and one of the best.
His performances for the club over the past few seasons now means that he is the man at Stamford Bridge, mainly down to the fact that he already has over 50 goal contributions for the Blues since his arrival from City.
However – in a shock statement from Nevin, the Blues icon has come out and claimed that a move to Man United could interest Palmer in the future as the attacker is a known fan of the Red Devils: ‘Cole Palmer’s support for Manchester United is gone,’ Nevin told Grosvenor Sport.
‘It really has gone. Maybe some part of him might want to go there at the end of his career but that really won’t be in his mind.
‘There’s no way he’d want to leave a vibrant young team like CHELSEA for the current Manchester United, despite their good performance against Liverpool.
‘That move would be years and years away from even being considered and if Chelsea fans get worried they just need to look at his contract length.’
KVARATSKHELIA WANTS MOVE
Napoli boss Antonio Conte says winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has “asked to be sold” amid interest from the likes of CHELSEA this January window.
Sky in Italy said on Thursday that Kvaratskhelia had made the decision that he now wanted to leave Napoli this Transfer window, and all sorts of speculation has been gathering pace over the past few days.
Conte has now confirmed the winger could be on the move this month. He said: “Regarding Kvara, he has now asked the club to be sold. I’m telling you without mincing any words.
“It was signalled to me and then the player himself confirmed it to me. Personally, I feel really disappointed, I spent six months with him and the rest of the team, making him feel at the centre of the project.
“We worked with the club to get his contract renewed, but after six months we are back to square one.
“I take these things head on, but I haven’t had the cutting edge [to keep him]. Now I’m at a point where I have to take a step back, because I can’t chain people to the club who don’t want to be here.
“It was a bolt from the blue. Now the player’s representatives and the club will resolve the situation. And if he ever stays, he must never think I wanted to chain him to the club.
“I did this this summer, a bit presumptuously as I thought I would be able to convince him. I didn’t succeed.
“And obviously, he is not available to play against Verona.”
BLUES TRYING SIGN MAINOO
CHELSEA are trying to steal Kobbie Mainoo away from Manchester United amid reports that the midfielder is struggling to agree a new contract with the Red Devils.
He is a player that is now being tipped to become an absolute superstar of the game and there has even been some reports that Spanish giants Real Madrid are eyeing up a potential deal in the summer.
United are in a strong position when it comes to the 19-year-old as he still has more than two years left on his contract and the Red Devils have an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
But according to Simon Phillips, the club are keen on Mainoo amid his contract talks with Man Utd dragging on and are trying to get the midfielder all signed up.
Phillips said: “What we have heard is that Chelsea once again sense an opportunity with a contract stand off between Mainoo and Manchester United. Sources have heard that United ARE still trying to agree a new contract.
“However, it has also been reported by reliable outlets that United might not be able to refuse any good offers for Mainoo due to PSR issues, with a number of their home grown players now up for sale.
‘Interestingly, CHELSEA also had recent interest in Alejandro Garnacho under this ownership, but I haven’t heard of anything new on that.
“But back to Mainoo, Chelsea have basically just reached out to his agents to tell them they are interested and to see if anything is viable. My top source messaged me late last night and said ‘we are trying to turn Mainoo’s head.’
