Boehly releases official statement after official Chelsea deal done!
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has sent a message after Mason Mount’s departure was confirmed.
Mount was regarded very highly at Stamford Bridge and become a real fans favorite for his tireless performances on the pitch – but over the last 12 months he had fallen out of favour at the club.
Add that to the fact that he couldnt agree a new contract with the club – it meant that Man United were able to swoop in, offer £60 million and get a deal done for the Englishman.
Mount has signed a five-year contract at Man United, running until 2028 with the option of a further year.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
Boehly said: Mason is a consummate professional and a popular figure at the club. We want to thank him for all his efforts on and off the pitch throughout his time at Chelsea.”
Mason Mount has today ended his 18-year association with Chelsea after completing a permanent move away from the club. ✍️

Mount has not revealed that this is the right time for him to leave Chelsea, a club that he has been at since the age of six.
WHAT DID MOUNT SAY –
In a farewell social media video to Chelsea supporters on Tuesday evening, Mount said: “Hi Chelsea fans. Given the speculation over the last couple of months, this may not come as a surprise to you that I’ve made the decision to leave Chelsea. I feel you deserve more than just a written statement.
“So I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I’ve been for all of your support over the last 18 years. I know some of you won’t be happy with my decision, but it’s what is right for me at this moment in my career.
“I joined Chelsea when I was six years old and we’ve been through a lot together. Winning the Youth Cup, my player of the year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the unforgettable night when we won the Champions League.
“I want to say thank you to the academy for being so influential to me from a young age. The managers I’ve worked under, the backroom staff, all of my team-mates over the years who have become my brothers, and most importantly you guys.
“I wish you all the best.”
