Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from us that we think you guys may have missed –

Demba Ba has urged new CHELSEA signing Nicolas Jackson to ‘show some balls’ and make his presence felt at Stamford Bridge.

The club made the big decision right at the beginning of the transfer window to splash £34 million and bring Jackson to the club, as a new striker was needed.

The club struggled for goals last season and Mauricio Pochettino knew that he needed to sign players that actually had the ability to bang in some goals on a weekly basis.

Ex-striker Ba has heaped praise on ‘talented’ Jackson and told his Senegalese compatriot how to be a success at Stamford Bridge.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

‘Jackson, I met him in Senegal when we went to Senegal for national team duty recently and we talked,’ Ba told London World.

‘He’s a very good kid, talented but definitely a very good very respectful like most Senegalese. But yeah, I’m so glad for him.’

Asked what advice he had for Jackson, Ba added: ‘I think there’s one thing that you have to do on top of everything when you’re at a club, like Chelsea, especially at night.

‘You need to ask yourself some questions, how can I say this without being rude. With respect, you know, you need balls.

‘I don’t know how to say this properly in English. But you’re the striker. You know, you have the capability. You have to be courageous, you have to come in and say I am here.

‘I am the one who’s leading that attack, I’ll be the one who’s going to be leading the club to victory. Because I’m a striker – I score goals.

‘I’m gonna take the responsibility. You know, I think this is more so in every big club, because in every club, everybody wants to shine. Everybody wants to be the big man.

‘I don’t say that he has to go and fight the hierarchy, but at some point, when you take the example of Samuel Eto’o, and when he went to Real Madrid, when he came in the national team of Cameroon, about at the age of 18 more or less, he took responsibility.

‘You know what I mean. And he thinks about his responsibilities on the team. And I think it’s very important in a club like CHELSEA, that when you come in, you take your responsibilities and you show your character and you show how good you are.

‘I think this is probably the best piece of advice I can give to the young brother that has just signed for a club like Chelsea.’

LEVI SAYS EASY DECISION –

Defender Levi Colwill has opened up and revealed that it was an easy decision to sign a new deal with CHELSEA.

He returned to Stamford Bridge at the beginning of the summer, and has impressed boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is no keen to use the young defender for the upcoming season.

There had been some speculation that he could leave the club, but that is all put to bed now as the talented defender has now agreed a massive six-year deal, and he has admitted it was an easy decision.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

‘I remember being in the old dome [at Cobham]. Coming in as a trialist, I was really nervous at the time. I went into training, really enjoying it, and then I had a six-week trial. On my ninth birthday, that’s when I got offered the contract, and I signed it there and then.

‘I never thought I could become what I have today, through all the hard work. There is no better feeling. So it has always been an easy decision. I have grown up, and all I have known is Chelsea,’

‘I have spoken to the gaffer, and he has given me assurances, and given me that trust that I needed. Just with simple things like talking to me, making me feel like not just a player, but also a person. It has made a big difference.

‘He pushes us hard, makes sure we do run, but also makes sure we do everything correctly and professional. That is the standards we need at CHELSEA , as one of the biggest clubs in the world.’

‘I want to bring to the team my willingness and dedication, I hate losing as a player. Every day, of course being a footballer is the best job in the world, but you also have to work hard. That is how you become the best and that is how you improve.

‘I am a very calm and composed player. Hopefully I can bring that into the team, play with composure. I want to help the team start attacks from the back, that’s how I like to think of myself,’ he said.

‘Of course, I am a defender but I also like to start attacks, break lines and help our team get forward as fast as possible at the right time.’

BOARD DELIGHTED WITH COLWILL DEAL

CHELSEA Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley have announced their delighted that Levi Colwill has agreed a new contract at the club.

Colwill is now regarded as one of the most exciting young defenders in the Premier League, and a player that Mauricio Pochettino has big plans for over the next couple of seasons.

It was confirmed this week that the 20-year-old has signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge. It runs until 2029, and there is a club option for a further 12 months.

And after seeing the deal get done Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley announced just how delighted they are.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

He said: ‘Levi is an outstanding player who has risen to every challenge in his career so far. We are thrilled he will remain at Chelsea for years to come.

‘His journey from academy to first team is testament to his talent, dedication, and determination. Everyone at the club is now looking forward to watching him thrive at Stamford Bridge in the seasons ahead.’

And after seeing the deal get announced – Gary Cahil opened up and claimed that Colwill has great potential.

He says: ‘Playing for CHELSEA – throughout my time at the club – as a centre-back you are expected to be comfortable building from the back. There was never a coach who told the goalkeeper to hit it long every two minutes.

‘There’s more to it, of course. You look at attributes you want in a centre-back and ask: Is he tall and good in the air? Does he have good presence? Is he quick? Does he take up good positions to receive the ball? Is he composed on the ball?

‘Levi Colwill has those attributes – now he must keep learning and progressing.
