CHELSEA have been encouraged to make a move to try and sign Karim Benzena during the January transfer window.

The transfer window has been open for quite a few weeks not – but despite all the rumours and despite all the speculation – the Bues have been unable to get a deal done for a new striker.

Whether that is because they are scared of the Financial Fair player rules, or whether it is because they simply cannot get the players that they desire – Mauricio Pochettino does not have a 20-goals a season forward as it stands.

That has led to some stunning reports in the media which have claimed that the club may bring Benzema back to European football after news broke just a few weeks ago that he is not happy in Saudi Arabia.

Now – amid all the speculation – and with just a week to go before the close of January – former Man United striker Dimitar Berbatov has encouraged the Blues to make a move for the former Ballon d’or winner.

Speaking to Betfair, Dimitar Berbatov said: “I think Benzema would get more game time at CHELSEA because Nicolas Jackson is still finding his feet and is still missing chances.

“Also, it’d be in London and sometimes you want your new surroundings to be in a big city like that. Arsenal would be a very similar move because he’d be able to chase Champions League success.

“He’d also be able to play regularly because Gabriel Jesus can play out wide. Benzema would like playing for Arsenal because of their style of play. He has an interesting choice to make but right now he’d probably choose to move to a London club.”
