Balague-Hazard update, De Ligt leaving, Calderon expects Bale exit, Pires-Zidane message in Chelsea daily roundup
Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news gossip and transfer talk from icchelseanews.
Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has confirmed Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt will follow Frenkie de Jong and sign with a “top club”.
De Ligt is regarded as one of the finest young defenders in world football and is tipped to become one of the best in world football after a stunning first few seasons with the Dutch giants, who have just knocked out Real Madrid in the Champions League in sensational fashion.
We are in the market for a new defender during the summer transfer window as there is some doubt about the quality of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger, who have been very unimpressive at times this season for the Blues.
[the_ad id=”164″]And we have been boosted in their chase for De Ligt after former Arsenal player Overmars, who is now the sporting director at Ajax, has claimed that De Ligt will follow De Jong out the transfer door and onto a big club.
“We don’t need to sell him,” Overmars said in quotes cited by AS.
“We don’t need money, but I know he’ll go to a top club. Selling our best players? We don’t want to, but we have no choice.”
Meanwhile, Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon expects target Gareth Bale to leave the club this summer due to fans’ disappointment with his “lack of commitment”.
Bale has had another indifferent season at the Bernabeu and is heavily tipped to leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season, as Madrid seek to make room for the likes of Christian Eriksen, Eden Hazard or Neymar, who have all been linked with possible moves.
We are just one of a number of clubs that are reportedly interested in trying to secure a deal for the Welshman, although his agent Jonathan Barnett has claimed that no Premier League side could afford his massive £650,000-a-week wages.
However, former Madrid President Calderon has admitted that he expects to see Bale depart the club.
He was quoted on the Sky Sports website: “It’s true that he wasn’t the leader people expected here after Cristiano (Ronaldo’s) departure.
“He showed a lack of commitment. People are not happy – they saw how he shrugged off his team-mates when they went to celebrate a goal with him last La Liga match and also (his) injuries.
“It’s a pity. I don’t see him here next season unfortunately.”
And Arsenal legend Robert Pires has claimed Zinedine Zidane’s Champions League success makes him a very attractive signing for Chelsea in the summer.
We have been heavily linked with the Frenchman all season despite the fact that they only hired Maurizio Sarri during the summer transfer window, as it is widely expected that the Italian is just a few bad results away from getting the sack by Roman Abramovic.
Sarri has admitted that he is not worried about his future at the club and has already started planning for next season, but the rumours about Zidane still persist, especially since the Frenchman would love a chance to test himself in the Premier League.
[the_ad id=”164″]And former Gunners star Pires has claimed that Abramovic is very attracted to the Champions League success of Zidane, and that would be the main reason why he would make a move for the Frenchman.
“It’s a very strange situation with Chelsea and how they treat their managers,” he told Bwin.
“Sarri is a very good manager and he performed very well with Napoli, but it’s hard to see him at the club next season.
“There appears to be a lot of player power at Chelsea that he is struggling to overcome like many have before him.
“I think Zidane would be a very good appointment at Chelsea.
“He would demand respect from the Chelsea players and control the dressing room as a result of everything he has achieved both on the pitch as a player and on the bench as a manager.
“He’s a winner and a warrior. He’s had great success in the Champions League which is attractive to the Chelsea owner.
“It would be very good news for the Premier League if Zidane moved to England.”
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed Eden Hazard is Real Madrid’s third transfer target next summer.
Hazard almost left Stamford Bridge last summer after the World Cup after months of speculation but decided to stay at the club after the arrival of Maurizio Sarri, who convinced the Belgian that the best thing for his career this season.
However, he has so far rejected the offers from the club to sign a new contract at the club and all indications suggest that he could indeed leave the club at the end of the season, with the Belgian just waiting for Madrid to make a formal offer for his services.
[the_ad id=”164″]And Balague says if we want to cash in on their prized asset then this summer is their last realistic opportunity and Balague says Madrid are prepared to meet their demands.
He said on the Daily Star website: “Real Madrid want Neymar or Mbappe – but PSG are saying no chance we’re not selling either of them.
“So the other plan will be to get Hazard and (Christian) Eriksen, that’s the other plan.
“Doesn’t mean they will get them, but that’s what they’d like to do.
“Hazard is waiting for Real Madrid to say something and meanwhile is improving his performances for Chelsea, but keeping an eye on what Real Madrid is deciding.
“Basically Hazard and Chelsea are waiting for Madrid – Chelsea will ask for about €100m and Real Madrid can afford it. But we’re still going to have to see what happens.”
