Defender has agreed to sign with Chelsea on massive six-year contract

Chelsea are reportedly handing Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile a six-and-a-half-year contract.

The season is back up and running after a break for the World Cup in Qatar – but we are only a few days away from the opening of the January transfer window – and the possibility of a few players arriving at Stamford Bridge

Graham Potter is a man that knows he needs to add some more quality to that squad – and the January window will give him a chance to sign some players that will make a real difference to the side.

David Ornstein reported that we had reached a total agreement for Badiashile and that the Blues are set to pay £33.7m.

This afternoon, more details of the deal have been revealed by L’Equipe, with the Frenchman set to be given a long term contract lasting until 2029.

Badiashile is absent from Monaco’s squad for their match this afternoon, all but confirming the move.

We have had some serious issues in all sorts of positions this season – but we are not sure that Badiashile is a man that will helps solve their defensive issues.

He is a very good young talent that has a bright future in the game – but as we have said on many occasions – the club need to delve into that transfer kitty and add a defender that is more established.
