Mikel Arteta has failed to rule out the departure of Aaron Ramsdale amid speculation that both CHELSEA and Newcastle are keen.

David Raya has usurped Ramsdale as Arsenal’s No 1 since the 1-0 win over Everton in September and the club is set to activate an option to make his loan move from Brentford permanent.

Ramsdale featured in the opening four games of the season for Arteta and co. But David Ryaa has started to establish himself in that Arsenal side and there is a feeling that Arteta believes the Spaniard is the way forward.

That has led to some stunning reports in the media which have claimed that we and Newcastle are very much interested in a deal to sign Ramsdale in the January window if he pushes for a move away from the Emirates.

Arsenal manager Arteta does not want to lose Ramsdale in the upcoming window, but he did not rule out a possible transfer either as he claimed that he cannot stop anyone from leaving the club.

Speaking to reporters, the Spaniard said: “I want Aaron with us. I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers. We want to be better, so we want to add to what we already have. That’s the intention that we have.

“I cannot tell you that any Arsenal player is not going to leave in January. Or he is to stay here for the next three years. I won’t say that no player is going to go to Newcastle. Or no member of the staff either. I won’t say it. If you say yes or no, I won’t say it.

‘I cannot guarantee that nobody is going to be leaving in January. For Newcastle or any other club. So it is a no.”
