Three players that could sign for free, Drinkwater leaves on loan and Lamps makes Loftus-Cheek claim in Chelsea news and gossip…

Chelsea have sent out-of-favour midfielder Danny Drinkwater out on loan to Turkish outfit Kasimpasa.

Despite the fact that the transfer window has been open for a few weeks now, there has not been much movement as to players coming into the Bridge, but Frank Lampard has agreed to let a number of players leave on loan.

And the latest to depart Stamford Bridge after failing to make and sort of impact is midfielder Drinkwater, who has struggled to make an impact at the club since his move from Leicester just a few seasons ago.

The 30-year-old hasn’t played for the club since the Community Shield back in 2018, and has also taken in loan spells at Burnley and Aston Villa over the past couple of seasons.

He will now be charged with helping Kasimpasa try to climb the standings in the Turkish top flight, with Fuat Capa’s side currently languishing down in 15th after 17 fixtures, as the club confirmed Drinkwater’s arrival in a statement on their official website, which reads: “English midfielder Daniel Noel Drinkwater, of English Premier League team Chelsea, has signed a contract that ties him to Kasimpasa on loan until the end of the season.”

The January transfer window is open for business, giving Chelsea the opportunity to freshen up their squad.

Frank Lampard was given a massive amount of money to spend in the transfer window, and he managed to secure players that have improved the side in all areas of the pitch.

However, there is still something lacking from the squad that is putting pressure on the shoulders of Lampard, and there has been alot of speculation that he could look to buy his way out of trouble again this month.

But with no movement in the transfer window just yet, Another thing clubs can do, is negotiate pre-contract agreements with players from outside their own league who are entering the final six months of their current deals, to sign them on free transfers in the summer.

And here are a few players that the club could look to sign up on a free deal.

David Alaba

Austrian international Alaba has turned down the offer of a new contract at Bayern Munich, meaning he is almost certain to leave at the end of this season, barring a dramatic turn of events.

The defender, who can operate at either centre-back or left-back, has reportedly made demands that Bayern are not willing to meet, and with the club long-term admirers of the left-back, they are in the hunt to try and get a deal done

Memphis Depay

The Dutch forward was something of a flop at Manchester United – but has rebuilt his career in some style with Lyon. where he has scored 65 goals and provided 48 assists in 157 appearances for the French club.

Depay’s form for club and country has reportedly attracted interest from the likes of PSG and Barcelona, but with Lampard looking to add something different to the squad, there is a chance to bring the Dutchman to the club.

Sergio Ramos

Vastly experienced, yes. Out-of-contract at Real Madrid this summer, yes. interested in the Premier League? Yes. This is a man that is attracting all sorts of interest.

The 34-year-old has enjoyed a glittering career with the La Liga giants, of course, but talks over a new deal are reported to have reach a stalemate, and he is heavily tipped to leave the club, meaning that we would swoop in an land a player that they have wanted for the last 8 years

Frank Lampard has revealed that he considers Fulham loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek part of his long-term plans at Chelsea.

Regarded very highly in the Premier League, Loftus-Cheek was sent out on loan at the beginning of the season in order to get some game time, improve a little and hopefully make a n impression at Fulham

And since his move to Fulham, Loftus-Cheek has become a big part of the squad and has been earning alot of plaudits for his performances this season, but despite the rumours that he wants a permanent move away, Lampard has opened up on the talented star

“He played well [against Tottenham] and I was really pleased to see that because when Ruben was getting fit and was with us, I felt like we missed him last year. And when Ruben was getting fit, I was excited because I know the attributes he has and I wanted those attributes at the club,” Lampard told reporters through Zoom.

“The conversations I had with Ruben earlier in the season were that he wasn’t feeling as sharp as he wanted to be on the back of a really bad injury which he had (a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in May 2019).

“Could he go and play games because he felt he needed games and maybe he could get regular games elsewhere.

“Seeing him play recently, I see him looking fit, fresh and strong. We know he’s an obvious talent so it’s great. If he can keep that up hopefully through the season and if he can get back to where he was and more then I’ll be very happy and he’ll come back as our player, for sure.”

There is no doubt that Loftus-Cheek is looking like a man that is once again enjoying his football, and it has been a shame that he has never really made an impact at the Bridge, but even though Lampard believes that he will be a big part of the side in the future, why would he want to go back just to sit on the bench again?
