Marc Cucurella’s agent Aleix Pique has clarified that the player is set to stay at Chelsea this summer.

Cucurella has made 59 appearances for the club over the last two season and is yet to win any silverware with the club. His current contract, which he signed upon arrival in west London, runs through to the summer of 2028

But there has been some speculation in the media that he could be one of the players that the board allow to leave this transfer window  -and a move back to La Liga as been mooted in the Spanish press over the past few weeks.

However – Cucurella appears reinvigorated by the challenge of playing under new manager Enzo Maresca and will not be leaving the club this summer transfer window.

Pique is part of EMG Mundial Sports Media and made the claims on the Spanish radio network Cadena SER last night. They come after a strong end of the season at Chelsea and an impressive European Championship with Spain.

‘Cucurella is very comfortable and happy at CHELSEA and in London. His idea is to stay at the club. Under normal circumstances, he will continue there’

Cucurella may be saying this now – but we are sure that if Barcelona do make an official offer this summer – he would find it very difficult not to entertain an offer.

But it is great news that he does want to stay because he has been very impressive for Spain during these last few weeks of the Euros and it will save the club millions in trying to sign an adequate replacement over the next few weeks.

So we are delighted to see that he will be staying at the club – he fully deserves to try and make a bigger impact under Maresca
