Striker Abraham opens up and announces he wanted this star signed for Chelsea!
Tammy Abraham has admitted that he would have loved Chelsea to sign Edinson Cavani during the January transfer window.
We were involved in a lot of transfer speculation and rumours during the January transfer window as there was a number of players linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge, but despite all the rumours, Frank Lampard failed to secure any transfer deals.
Cavani was one man that was constantly linked with a transfer move to London, especially after he handed in a transfer request as he sought to make the move away from PSG after 198 goals for the French giants.
But as we said, despite all the speculation and rumours, we could simply not get a deal done for the big striker and Lampard will have to get through the rest of the season with the squad that they currently have.
Abraham has performed well under the pressure of scoring the goals this season following Eden Hazard’s departure, but the young England international claims he would have welcomed a move for Cavani.
‘The players we were talking about bringing in were like Cavani and other top class strikers who have been around the game for many years,’ Abraham said in the Metro
‘It would have been nice if he had come. He would have been someone I can learn off and steal his ideas to add to my own.
‘It didn’t happen though and for me it gives me that extra push and desire to claim my position and be as best as I can.’
We would have loved to see a few players arrive during the January window and it is just a shame that the club did not pull their finger out their arses and snap up a few bargains.
