£60M Chelsea target encouraged to make January move
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted CHELSEA target Aaron Ramsdale’s chances of playing for England at Euro 2024 could depend on him quitting Arsenal in January.
Ramsdale featured in the opening four games of the season for Arteta and co. But David Raya has started to establish himself in that Arsenal side and there is a feeling that Arteta believes the Spaniard is the way forward.
And that has led to many reports in the media suggesting that Ramsdale is open to the idea of leaving Arsenal if he does not get more game time, as he wants to be on that plane for the England Team at the European Championships.
Now, amid the speculation that we are keen on a deal, Agbonlahor has opened up and told Ramsdale that his place on that plane may depend on him leaving the club this January window.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “100%, it’s on his mind. and he’s thinking of quitting in January.
“The problem with goalkeepers is that they rarely get injured.
“They’re not really going to pull a hamstring or a calf – so when’s he going get his football?
“Raya has played every game since coming in.
“Ramsdale knows now that his career and chances of going to the Euros with England could well depend on him moving in January.
“Sometimes you’ve got to accept that you’re number two. The manager isn’t going to come out and say it, but he’s not thick.”
