Chelsea have been told that they will have to pay more than €100 million to secure the services of AC Milan star Rafael Leao

After helping AC Milan win that Seria A title last season – Leao has become one of the most sought-after young attackers in the game – with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid also interested in a possible deal

He probably would have left Milan during the summer window – if they did not request that clubs meet his £127 million asking price before they do any business – but they now plan to keep hold of the lad

Although Rafael Leao has garnered significant interest from Chelsea, AC Milan are confident that they can tie down the player to a longer deal and have already begun negotiations

But even though boss Paolo Maldini has stated that Leao has expressed a will to stay at Milan, if an agreement can’t be found, it’s understood that only offers greater than €100 million would be considered for the 23-year-old.

If met, that would make Leao Chelsea’s most expensive signing of all time.

There are some players that are worth over £100 million – and there are some players are not

Leao is at that stage where he is not worth so much money – so therefore – his agent needs to get that asking price down or he will be going nowhere

If they pay too much money – he will not be worth it – it will be an interesting one to watch over the next couple of transfer windows that is for sure guys

Christopher Nkunku has already signed a pre-contract agreement with Chelsea and will move to Stamford Bridge next summer – it has been claimed in the media

Graham Potter has signed a five-year deal at Chelsea after the club decided to get rid of German boss Thomas Tuchel after an indifferent start to the new season.

The former Brighton boss has reportedly been assured by owner Todd Boehly that he will be given plenty of time to implement his plans for the role.

And that has led to speculation in the media that the club have been keen to secure the services of Nkunku after failing to sign the attacker during the summer transfer window – despite numerous offers

But now it seems that Chelsea have agreed to bring the player to the Premier League after it was claimed that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Blues

According to The Athletic, Chelsea have agreed to pay far in excess of that figure now in order to beat off competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs and already have a full agreement in place with the player.

As part of the arrangement, Chelsea have committed to paying Leipzig a price in excess of the £52.7million release clause that becomes active next summer.

The 24-year-old was one of the standout stars in the Bundesliga last season, netting 20 goals and laying on 13 assists, while he has already notched six times in the 2022/23 campaign.

If the reports are true and the club have agreed to sign the player – then he will be a brilliant signing for the club – but also a risk

The Bundesliga is not the Premier League and we have seen the likes of Jadon Sancho and Christian Pulisic move to the English game and flop – so that is the risk
