Sharpe tells Prem rivals to sign Kante as Chelsea must pay £437 million to land Frenchman

Chelsea would have to pay a massive £437 million to secure a summer deal for Real Madrid star Raphael Varane.

Varane has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few months after shock reports emerged which claimed that he now wants to leave La Liga at the end of the season and test himself in another top League, with the Premier League and Bundesliga high up on his possible list of destinations.

We have been long-time linked with a move for the Frenchman, as Maurizio Sarri is desperate to improve his back-line in the summer, and were even boosted after agent Bruno Satin came out and claimed that Varane is actually considering leaving the club in search of fresh challenges.

However, despite Zidane announcing that a number of big named stars will be sold to finance the clubs summer overhaul, Rai Sport have reported that Real will only sell the French centre-back if his €500m (£437m) release clause is triggered.

Meanwhile, Lee Sharpe has told Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to get rid of Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic and try to sign midfielder N’Golo Kante.

United signed Lukaku from Everton two years ago in a deal worth £75million but the Belgian striker has lost his place in the starting line-up this season after failing to find the net on a regular basis, while Matic has ‘lost a yard’ or two this season and does not look like the same man who patrolled Jose Mourinho’s side last season.

And United have been told to make a move for Kante as he would be the perfect signing for the club claims Sharpe.

‘They have to go out and buy ready-made world-class players,’ Sharpe told TalkSport.

‘They’ve got a few young players who are coming through, (Scott) McTominay looks really good.

‘There are a few young players in the team so they need ready-made, experienced, world-class players to put them back on that sort of level and stage.

‘I’m not sure it’s really worked out for Lukaku, a world-class centre-forward would be great.

‘Defensively they look a little bit uncertain so maybe a centre-half. If I was at United, I’d probably look at swapping Matic, he’s been brilliant but he’s probably lost a yard.

‘I’d go out and spend some money and get Kante because they don’t seem to fancy him at Chelsea.’
