Former Liverpool favourite Jason McAteer has told Reds’ rivals Chelsea to sign Philippe Coutinho during the summer transfer window.

Coutinho made a name for himself at Liverpool as one of the best creative midfielders in the game and Barcelona were determined to acquire his services as the long-term replacement for Andreas Iniesta.

However, his move to the Camp Nou has not gone down as well as many had hoped and after the arrival of Antoine Griezmann, he has fallen well down the pecking order, meaning that he was shipped out o Bayern Munich on a loan basis.

And according to recent reports in the media, Barcelona are desperate to offload the Brazilian in the summer and will allow him to leave the club if the £77 million price tag is met by us.

Now former Liverpool star McAteer has opened up and told the club that they should make a move for Coutinho, he told talkSPORT: “I could see Philippe Coutinho slotting in perfectly at Chelsea, where Frank Lampard is doing unbelievable things trying to reboot the club using a lot of young talent bedding in alongside some experienced stars.

“Coutinho would feel really comfortable in the number ten role at Stamford Bridge with the protection of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho and an array of young frontmen around him who would thrive working off him.”

Ajax star Hakim Ziyech has broken his silence after officially signing for the Chelsea.

We are a few months away from the transfer window right now, but that has not stopped the club from starting their summer business and start acquiring teh kind of players that will make a real difference to the side next season.

We made a ton of money last summer by selling a number of players, and that has already started going towards some top-class signings, after we officially agreed a deal to sign the brilliantly gifted Ziyech from Ajax in a deal worth around £38 million.

A calf injury had ruled the 26-year-old out of action for the last three weeks but Ziyech made his return during Ajax’s 3-0 win over Vitesse last night, and Confirmation of his impending transfer arrived less than 24 hours later and although Ziyech is delighted to be making the move to England, he hopes to ‘create a few more memories’ before his time in Amsterdam is over.

‘Happy to be fit again so I can enjoy these last months on the pitch, where I belong,’ he wrote on Instagram.

‘Received a lot of warm and positive messages during my absence and I hope to create just a few more beautiful memories than we already have.

‘Very happy with my next step, but first I have some unfinished business to handle.’

Jamie Carragher has told the likes of Chelsea that Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho would be perfect for the Premier League.

Sancho, who has 12 goals and 13 assists in just 18 Bundesliga appearances this season, is one of the most in-demand players across Europe and there were many reports in the January window suggesting that Chelsea were keen to make a move to sign the winger then.

However, Dortmund did not want to sell one of their most prized assets and it seemed that Sancho was keen to stay put until at least the summer, meaning that we went the whole January transfer window without making any meaningful transfer deals.

But with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all credited with interest in the prodigious wide-man, Dortmund could demand in excess of £100million for Sancho in the summer, who became the first teenager ever to score 25 goals in Germany’s top flight recently.

And Carragher has claimed that the young man would be a perfect addition to the Premier League: “Sancho is one of the best young players at the moment in world football, especially when you look at his actual stats for Borussia Dortmund’, he told Sky Sports Football Weekend Preview Podcast.

‘He’s an English player who I think will be desperate to come back, so I think he’ll be the hottest thing everyone in the Premier League will be looking to bring in.

‘Will he be a hit? I think so. It’s a no-brainer, look at how well he has played in a top league with a top club under pressure.

‘He’s playing week in, week out, his numbers are fantastic and his age is just perfect.’

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas reckons Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard would do well at Chelsea.

Now we all know that the January transfer window is now shut, and we also know that we failed to do any transfer business that would help Frank Lampard improve the side and help take the club back to the top by the end of the season.

But there is a feeling that Lampard will improve the squad in the summer with a few top-class additions, as reports have suggested that he will have around £150 million in the kitty to improve his side in all the key areas of the squad that actually need working on.

And reports have also claimed that he is keen to add a striker to the side, especially as Olivier Giroud looks all but certain to leave the club after failing to get his switch away during the January transfer window, simply because we failed to land the striker they needed.

Edouard, 22, is enjoying a purple patch of form right now, with 20 goals in 22 league appearances this season, and former Celtic and Arsenal striker Nicholas thinks he could be ready for the step up to the Premier League.

He told the Sun : “Edouard is good enough to go and play at a Chelsea or a Manchester United.

“I say that with some confidence. I think he could go into both their squads and make a real impact. That is how much ability he has.”
