Joao Felix could look for a loan move away from CHELSEA in the January window, after failing to get the minutes under Enzo Maresca that he would like

The summer window the club made the big decision to bring Joao Felix back to the club for a bargain fee after Atletico Madrid made the decision that they no longer wanted the star at the club, a move that shocked many Blues fans.

He has shown some quality in European games, but he has been unable to get into that starting eleven for the Premier League as the club have the likes of Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku ahead of Felix, and now Maresca has spoken about the stars situation.

The Yahoo Sports website have claimed Felix is one of the players whose case at Stamford Bridge is quite curious. After costing £45million in the summer, the Portugal international has played 10 times across all competitions this season.

Five of them have come in the Premier League, starting zero, but he has started every game of their league phase in the Conference League, scoring four goals, but playing in Maresca’s ‘B’ team and not being a key figure isn’t what either player wanted when they signed. It’s something that the club has to find a solution in January.

What Has Been Said?

The Italian head coach recently conceded that he feels ‘shame’ about the situation but insisted that he can’t use Felix in the Premier League because he would upset the team’s defensive balance: “I feel shame about Joao – not only about Joao but you have asked me about Joao,” Maresca was quoted.

“I feel shame about Joao and I would like to give him more minutes in the Premier League but I have said many times, we need defensive balance and we cannot play with Joao, Cole [Palmer], Christo [Nkunku].

“I [would] like to put all of them on the pitch but then you also have to defend and you need the right balance between the two phases of attacking and defending. This is the only reason why. There is no doubt if Joao keeps working well, he is going to find his moment also in the Premier League.”
