Chelsea will not enter the new season without completing a ‘mind-boggling’ transfer, That’s the view of former Blues striker Tony Cascarino
With Olivier Giroud already leaving the club and many reports in the media suggesting that Tammy Abraham will also depart the club this summer, there has been alot of rumours that the club are keen on Erling Haaland.
Having continued his meteoric rise as one of Europe’s brightest young stars last season, Haaland has become the number one transfer target for the club, despite the fact the German club remain adamant they won’t sell.
But there have been suggestions we could test Dortmund’s resolve with a mammoth bid upwards of £130m in the coming weeks, and Cascarino believes ‘a storm is coming’ at Stamford Bridge.
He said on the talkSPORT Breakfast: “Chelsea have earned a lot of money in the last year or so, with the Champions League and selling Eden Hazard.
“I cannot believe they’re not going to break the bank and sign someone like Haaland.
“They are going to do a really big transfer, in my opinion.
“It’s been so quiet, the storm is coming – because Roman [Abramovich] has always done it, he’s always backed the club.
“I would be absolutely gobsmacked if they go in with the squad they’ve got today, even though they are European champions.
“Giroud has gone, Tammy is rumoured to be leaving as well, they’re making space.
“For them to do that, they are planning a mind-boggling transfer, and I think it will be Haaland.
“They’re going to offer big money for somebody and I suspect it would be him.”
